These are my absolute favorite Christmas addition.
Purchased from the same project that made the hearts and the tree decorations (Guess who got a little bit over enthusiastic and bought everything off the table
The special thing about these really cool angels is not that they have shwe shwe wings - that goes without saying - but the fact that they are the last 3. They are no longer making them because they are quite hard work.
When I got home I showed them off to every body who came within a twenty metre radius of me. This included Elizabeth who had to patiently nod while I gleefully showed her my loot. She liked the angels too - but said to me that they would be very easy to make.
"Easy ? " I asked her.
" Everything except the wings", she said. " the wings look very difficult"
So I told her that if she could make a straw body, I would more than gladly glue a piece of shwe shwe onto some card board for my contribution. And we could outsource even further by getting marvelous husband - he of the tool belt - to twist some halos for us. The springs that they dangle from we can purchase from the one price toy store down the road.
Maybe next year we will go into production, but I suspect these might remain the last three angel like this.

When I was down in Cape Town a month or two ago I found these gorgeous Santas and have been holding on to them, waiting to post them closer to Christmas. So Hurrah - here they are
These Father Christmases, Father Chtristmasi, Father Christmaseese, Santas are made by Community Creations , a community beading and sewing project that have a stall in the Red Shed at the V & A Waterfront. They have traditional red suits, but the trim on their hats and suits is a bit more exotic and their hats are made of red shwe shwe. Each one has a different print on their hat. Holding them is up for me to photograph is the friendly shop assistant- who also sold me a catalogue of other items made by the project.
